Thanks to the gifts of our generous donors and dedicated volunteers, Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg (HHSCW) has supported thousands of individuals in our community who have faced a terminal illness, cared for someone at the end of life and those who have sought support through their grief. The generosity of our community is both remarkable and essential in providing this compassionate and caring support when people are their most vulnerable.
Although we inch toward a community that is educated to provide compassionate end-of-life support for all, our work is far from over.
- We want to ensure that we are reaching and welcoming all ethnic and religious groups and populations with distinct needs such as veterans and those with behavioral issues.
- We seek to expand our focus to share our knowledge and experience with those in the community providing end-of-life support at home or in life care communities and hospitals.
- And we understand the importance of collaboration and communicating with other organizations in in our community to ensure that people know who we are and how we can help.
As our fiscal year comes to a close on June 30, we seek funding to ensure that we are able to continue to be there around the clock, seven days a week, 365 days a year when a loved one needs our care at end of life; to support a loved one in their grief through one of our individual or group bereavement programs; to provide a trained patient volunteer to sit bedside with your loved one so that a you can attend to life’s necessities; and, to provide expert training to caregivers who are facing end-of-life in their daily work. To accomplish this we must raise nearly $1 million each year.
