What is an Annual Fund? The Annual Fund provides funding for the operation of Hospice House and all Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg (HHSCW) programs and services.  The Annual Fund Campaign is the fundraising effort responsible for raising the funding for operations at Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg HHSCW each year.

What types of gifts are considered Annual Fund gifts? The most powerful gift to HHSCW is one without restriction. Cash gifts and marketable securities to the Annual Fund are gladly accepted.

What is the Rodgers-Ellis Society? Donors accumulating an annual gift amount of $1,000 or more during a fiscal year are welcomed into the Rodgers-Ellis Society, named in honor of Bell-Jo Rodgers, one of the founders of HHSCW and the late Dr. Mark Ellis, a tireless supporter of Hospice House & a valued member of the board of directors. Rodgers-Ellis Society members are listed on a recognition wall in the sunroom of Hospice House and in our newsletter.  In addition members receive priority in purchasing Elegant Culinary Affaire tickets, and are invited to a reception each year in appreciation of their support.

What time period makes up the HHSCW fiscal year? HHSCW operates on a July 1—June 30 fiscal year.

Do I have to make my annual fund campaign gift in one lump sum or may I spread my payments out throughout the fiscal year?  All annual, unrestricted gifts received within the course of the fiscal year will count toward the $1,000 threshold for Rodgers-Ellis Society Membership and other donor recognition clubs. Event sponsorships and tickets, as well as endowment gifts, also are not considered in this total.

What are the donor recognition club levels at Hospice House? HHSCW has 6 donor recognition levels for annual fund giving:

Founders Circle: annual fund gifts of $5,0000 or more*

Leaders Circle: annual fund gifts of $2,500—$4,999.99*

Protectors: annual fund gifts of $1,000—$2,499.99*

Beyond Annual Fund Campaign Gifts, what other opportunities are available to lend support to HHSCW? HHSCW has many opportunities throughout the year to lend support. These opportunities include planned gifts (see Legacy Society information below), gifts to the endowment and event sponsorships or attendance. Families also may purchase a customized brick for the Patio of Memories for $600. The Elegant Culinary Affaire (January) and Hike for Hospice (April) are events hosted by HHSCW. In addition, several third part events, including the Men’s Charity Tennis Tournament and Wine Gala (October), the Hollenbeck Golf Tournament (June), and more. Event and Patio of Memories brick purchases supplement the Annual Fund.

What is the Legacy Society? HHSCW depends on the annual support of individuals, while seeking to grow our endowment with bequests. Individuals who let us know of their intention to leave their estate or a portion thereof to HHSCW, or who have named HHSCW as a beneficiary through other irrevocable planning tools are members of the Legacy Society.
