Each year, Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg (HHSCW) collects nominations for the Guild Volunteer of the Year Award.  Any individual who has been an official HHSCW volunteer for at least 1 year is eligible for nomination. Nominees are typically individuals currently volunteering at HHSCW, but occasionally exceptions may be made.  Posthumous nominations may be made as well.

Candidates for the award typically demonstrate exceptional service, leadership and/or initiative.  Nominations are reviewed by, and a winner is selected by the HHSCW Executive Director in consultation with HHSCW staff and the Guild Council President.  The Volunteer of the Year announcement is made during an annual HHSCW Guild event.  The winner is presented a framed certificate and their name is added to the Volunteer of the Year plaque found in the front hall reception area at Hospice House.
